Ricky was diagnosed with lupus at the age of 25. Lupus is nine times more common in women than men, which is why he is passionate about making sure men with lupus are heard and supported across Europe. His mother also lived with lupus, and her experience deeply inspires Ricky to help strengthen the lupus community and ensure nobody living with lupus or their families feel left behind.

He has been actively involved with Lupus Europe, serving as a Special Advisor and now as a Board Member. Ricky has spoken at major events like EULAR 2025, bringing visibility to the unique challenges men face with lupus. He also helped create and supports the Lupus Europe Mens Group, building much-needed networks and resources for men in the lupus community.

Based in Manchester, Ricky has spent most of his career working within the UK charity sector, including the National Union of Students (NUS). Outside of work, he enjoys exploring local eateries, watching Netflix, and spending quality time with his niece and nephews.
